Helen is an award-winning maths tutor with over 15 years’ experience supporting students across GCSE, IGCSE, A-Level, IAL, IB and Functional Skills. With a degree in Pure and Applied Mathematics from the University of Exeter and recognition as Secondary Tutor of the Year 2024, she combines strong subject knowledge with a calm, confidence-building approach.
Her focus isn’t just on improving grades, but on helping students feel more capable in maths. By rebuilding foundations and reducing anxiety, she helps students develop the independence they need to succeed both in exams and beyond.
Anvita is an experienced maths tutor and qualified teacher with over 15 years’ experience supporting students across a wide range of qualifications, including GCSE, IGCSE, A-Level, Further Maths, IB, Functional Skills, and 11+ preparation. With a first-class degree in Maths and Physics, a Masters in Numerical Mathematics, and a PGCE in Secondary Mathematics, she brings both depth of subject knowledge and a highly adaptable teaching approach.
Her focus is on helping each student find the method that works best for them. Whether supporting students who find maths challenging or stretching high-achieving Further Maths students aiming for top grades, Anvita combines patience, flexibility, and clear explanations to help students build confidence and reach their individual goals.
Chris is a maths and science tutor with over seven years’ experience supporting students across GCSE and A-Level study. With a degree in Mathematics and experience teaching both in small groups and one-to-one settings, he combines strong subject knowledge with a calm, supportive teaching style that helps students feel more confident tackling challenging topics.
His lessons focus on building understanding step by step, while also developing exam technique, clear mathematical working, and problem-solving skills. By adapting sessions to the individual student, Chris helps learners feel comfortable asking questions, thinking carefully, and making steady progress over time.
Shannon is a qualified teacher and experienced tutor who has supported students in maths and computer science for over five years. With experience across mainstream, private, and specialist settings, she combines strong subject knowledge with a flexible, student-focused approach tailored to each learner’s needs.
Her lessons are designed to build both understanding and confidence. By adapting her teaching style to suit each student and identifying gaps early, Shannon helps students feel more comfortable asking questions, tackling challenges, and making steady progress.
Frances is an experienced maths tutor with a Master’s degree in Mathematics from Lancaster University and a PGCE in Secondary Mathematics from the University of Manchester. She has taught students across a wide range of ages and abilities, including GCSE, A-Level and International Baccalaureate learners, and combines strong academic knowledge with a warm, adaptable teaching approach.
Her lessons are designed to help students feel supported, challenged, and confident in their learning. With particular experience working with students with additional educational needs, Frances focuses on adapting explanations and teaching methods to suit each learner, helping students develop both understanding and independence over time.
More About Helen
Helen didn’t always plan to follow this path.
“My mum was a maths teacher and, much as I love her, following the same route felt far too predictable.”
But maths was always there. After graduating in 2008, she began a PGCE in Secondary Maths, before illness forced her to step away. What initially felt like a setback led her to one-to-one tutoring, where she discovered the real impact she could have.
Working individually with students allowed her to slow things down, address misconceptions, and support those who felt they “just weren’t maths people” to see that they were capable after all.
Today, alongside running Osmond Education, Helen is also a mum of two, a wife of one, and a big fan of a well-earned cup of tea.
More About Anvita
For Anvita, tutoring has always been about the individual.
“What I love best about tutoring is the variety and trying to find what works best for each student.”
Over the years, she has taught in state schools, private schools, international colleges, tutorial colleges, and one-to-one settings, working with students from Year 7 through to Further Maths A-Level. Alongside tutoring, she has held leadership roles including Lead Tutor for A-Level Maths at a major international homeschooling provider, where she helped design and develop course content for students studying around the world.
Much of her recent work has focused on supporting students who need additional help outside traditional school environments, including learners with additional needs, students experiencing anxiety around education, and those rebuilding confidence after difficult experiences in school. Her calm and personalised approach helps students feel supported while developing the independence they need to succeed.
Outside of tutoring, Anvita enjoys all kinds of puzzles, from sudoku and cryptic crosswords to pub quizzes and code-breaking activities. She has also volunteered with organisations supporting young people with additional needs and families facing challenging circumstances.

Chris is also neurodiverse and has Asperger’s syndrome, which has helped shape his thoughtful and structured approach to tutoring. He understands that students may process information in different ways, and places strong emphasis on clear explanations, patience, reassurance, and adapting lessons to suit each learner’s needs.
For Chris, tutoring is about making difficult ideas feel manageable.
“I really enjoy explaining complex topics clearly and helping students feel more comfortable with subjects they may once have found difficult.”
Alongside teaching GCSE Maths and Science, Chris also supports students studying A-Level Maths and Chemistry, helping many prepare successfully for university applications and competitive courses. As part of his tutoring work, he has mentored students through the UCAS process, including supporting several aspiring medical students in securing places at their chosen universities.
Over the years, Chris has worked with a wide range of learners, including students with SEN and autism, tailoring lessons to suit different learning styles and confidence levels. His experience creating bespoke resources and practice papers allows him to provide structured, targeted support that helps students feel fully prepared for exams.
Outside tutoring, Chris enjoys natural history documentaries, learning about languages and different cultures, and exploring the history of science. He believes understanding how ideas were discovered helps students connect more deeply with the subjects they study.
More About Shannon
Shannon’s journey into teaching started with tutoring.
What began as a way to support students quickly became something she genuinely loved, leading her to complete her teacher training and gain Qualified Teacher Status.
“I love tutoring because it allows learning to be personalised. Every student learns differently, and being able to adapt lessons to suit them helps them get so much more from each session.”
Alongside tutoring, Shannon has taught maths, ICT, and computer science across a range of school settings, including iGCSE Maths and GCSE courses for AQA, Edexcel, OCR, and WJEC. She has also supported students through summer schools, intervention programmes, and specialist learning environments.
Outside teaching, Shannon volunteers with the Army Cadet Force, has helped run drama clubs and coding clubs, and enjoys being involved in local theatre productions.

Frances’ passion for teaching developed through tutoring students alongside her studies, where she discovered how rewarding it was to support learners from a wide range of backgrounds and confidence levels.
“I enjoy helping students realise they are capable of more than they think, especially when learning is adapted to suit how they learn best.”
Since completing her PGCE, she has taught mathematics and physics both in the UK and internationally, including working with students aged 11–18 at an international school in Antigua. Alongside classroom teaching, she has also contributed to curriculum design and continued to develop her expertise through professional development focused on adaptive and responsive learning, particularly for students with SEND.
Her experience working in specialist educational settings strengthened her belief that no two students learn in exactly the same way. She takes a calm and flexible approach, helping students feel comfortable asking questions and building confidence steadily over time.
Outside teaching, Frances has a wide range of creative interests. She is an accomplished dancer who has performed at venues including the Royal Albert Hall and Sadler’s Wells, an experienced musician with Grade 8 Clarinet, and also holds a black belt in the Korean martial art Tang Soo Do. These experiences have helped develop the discipline, resilience, and teamwork she brings into her teaching.
